TMS Parent's Section

Parent involvement is an important aspect of our school community at TMS. The TMS "Parent Section" was designed to provide parents with resources that will assist them and their child during the middle years. You will find related files and weblinks below that will provide helpful information.

The Trinity Area School District provides Edline services to all Trinity students K-12 and parents.  Edline integrates gradebook tools with a total information and communication solution, parents have the information they need to make a difference to the educational lives of their children.

The obstacles schools face in harnessing the power of parental involvement primarily revolve around the issues of information and communication. Older children often filter what information reaches their parents, and younger children can rarely articulate the kinds of details parents want. In addition, the sheer volume of information that changes daily in a school environment presents a major communication challenge. Edline is the gateway for parents and students to have updated information about their classroom progress.

When parents have rich and timely information, they can use it to make a tremendous positive impact on the success of their children. They can:

  • Provide assistance with schoolwork.
  • Celebrate achievements and provide positive encouragement.
  • Intervene when a student is struggling, avoiding “surprises” and preventing a small problem from becoming a large one.
  • Help children learn important life management skills such as responsibility and planning.
  • Foster a love of learning at home, and augment school assignments with family activities.
  • Volunteer to participate in school, or for class trips and other activities.

If you are having difficulty accessing your child's information on Edline or if your username or password is not working, please contact the Trinity Area Technology Office by email or phone (724) 225-5380 ext. 7116.

If your child is having difficulty with a Math concept or Reading skill they can access Study Island.  Study Island is completely Web-based and provides online tutoring for Math and Reading. Students can access Study Island and learn at their own pace. There is no software to download or install; all you need is an Internet connection. Students can access the program by simply logging on to www.studyisland.com, where they will find each topic organized with a lesson, assessment questions, and explanations. The mastery of these topics will help students gain confidence when taking the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). We currently utilize Study Island as extension activities in our classrooms at TMS.
