    Position Description

     

    Title:                          Speech-Language Pathologist

    Position Type:        Exempt

    Responsible to:      Special Education Director and/or Building Principal

    Responsible for:    Planning instruction and/or adaptation of the educational program to enable Speech and Language Support students to benefit from the educational experience

    Qualifications:       

    • Possess a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
    • Possess a PA certificate in Special Education, Speech and Language Impaired
    • Possess knowledge of Speech and Language impairments
    • Possess an understanding of assessment procedures and interpreting assessment results
    • Possess knowledge of instructional strategies and the most current technology
    • Possesses knowledge of Special Education procedures
    • Possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence or PA license in Speech and Language

    Work Year:  TAEA contract

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Supervises support staff to carry out specifically designed instruction indicated in the Individualized Education Program
    • Assesses and identifies students whose speech and language deviate from normal
    • Administers appropriate formal and informal assessments and analyzes assessment results
    • Refers eligible students for appropriate medical or other professional attention
    • Contact medical and agency personnel when necessary, providing the needed information relating to the student’s speech and language impairment
    • Provides Speech and Language services through a variety of service delivery models
    • Schedules students for services according to the Individualized Education Program
    • Utilizes appropriate instructional strategies, monitoring the student’s response to interventions
    • Consults and guides parents, students, and teachers regarding speech and language impairments
    • Provides pertinent information to parents, teachers, and students regarding specific speech and language impairments
    • Notifies all individuals associated with the student of inclusion in therapy sessions
    • Schedules students for therapy sessions, notifies parents, and school personnel of scheduled therapy sessions
    • Keeps adequate records and progress monitoring on each student, using appropriate data collection tools
    • Collects data at regularly scheduled intervals and modifies instructions based on data collection
    • Identifies, plans, and schedules training for parents and staff on specific speech and language impairments, plans follow-up sessions, and activities for future training
    • Participates in the pre-referral MDE/IEP process
    • Presents and discusses assessment results and placement for the student with the team
    • If necessary, write goals and objectives for the student
    • Ensures all professional safeguards are in order
    • Develops a schedule for completion of paperwork, including ACCESS billing
    • Obtains knowledge of Special Education paperwork, procedures, and timelines, completing all paperwork according to the given timelines

     

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Physically able to perform job responsibilities, including being able to lift and handle at least 25 lbs. regularly and at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.     Responsible to:      Building Principal

    Responsible for: Assumming responsibility for the planning and delivery of instruction designed for student learning in the classroom and the school

    Qualifications:       

    • Holds a professional license with endorsement at the appropriate level (elementary, middle, or high school)
    • Demonstrates professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community
    • Ability to move about to monitor students and check work in classrooms with varied seating and desk organization patterns
    • Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day if assigned to an itinerant position
    • Ability to prepare required written reports
    • Ability to monitor and ensure appropriate student behavior, including outdoor activity areas, gymnasiums, etc.
    • Possess high moral standards and integrity

    Title:                          Special Service Aide/Paraprofessional

    Position Type:        Non-Exempt

    Responsible to:      Classroom Teacher/Director of Special Education/Principal

    Responsible for:    Works closely with one or more students with disabilities regularly to provide personal, physical, emotional, behavioral, and classroom assistance

    Qualifications:       

    • Highly qualified status. Must have a secondary school diploma and one (1) of the following:
    • At least two (2) years of postsecondary study
    • Associate’s degree or higher degree
    • Evidence of meeting a rigorous standard of quality through a state or local assessment
    • Possesses all clearances required by the district
    • Ability and desire to interact with students
    • Ability and desire to work in a school environment
    • Ability to communicate with teachers, students, other school personnel, and parents
    • Pass tests required by the district
    • Ability to complete data reports for progress monitoring and ACCESS billing purposes
       

    Work Year:   School year as per contract

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in personal and physical tasks
    • Hears the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping them but not teaching them
    • Performs simple errands and tasks for student(s)
    • Accompanies the students(s) to whom assigned to different places in the building as needed
    • Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement
    • Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the student personnel evaluation team conferring about one of the students to whom assigned
    • Performs the tasks associated with the position of teacher aide
    • Performs other duties associated with this position as assigned by the principal and/or teacher, or special education director

    Position Description

     

    Title:                          Custodian

    Position Type:        Non-Exempt

    Responsible to:      Director of Facilities, Principal, or appropriate Administrator

    Responsible for:     Routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of facilities

    Qualifications:        Must have the ability to stand for extended periods. Exhibit manual dexterity to use equipment. To see and read printed material with or without visual aids. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly. Must have physical agility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted: to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, walk, climb a ladder, and reach overhead.

    Necessary and Special Qualifications:

                                        Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and oral/written communication skills are required to perform all responsibilities. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to travel to more than one work location during the day if assigned to an itinerant position. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Monitor school district property and report incidents of concern
    • Snow removal, weeding, and mulching flowerbeds and playgrounds
    • Remove and properly dispose of trash
    • Scrub, strip and refinish floors, dust mop, wet mop, sweep and spray buff floors
    • Vacuum, shampoo, and clean rugs and carpet
    • Scrub and clean restroom fixtures and keep restrooms supplied
    • Dust, polish, and clean by washing walls, doors, windows, lockers, furniture, woodwork, and other above-floor surfaces including those only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
    • Move furniture and set rooms for special events
    • Notify the supervisor of equipment conditions and facility needs
    • Perform minor building maintenance to include painting areas only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, principal, or appropriate administrator

    • Follow established TASD policies and procedures at all times

  • Title: Food Service Worker –Part-time

    Position Type: Non-Exempt

    Responsible to: School Cafeteria Manager

    Responsible for: Performing the different cafeteria duties in an efficient, clean, and friendly manner in which students are served nutritious meals

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Works well with people, especially children, and maintains a pleasant and positive work attitude. Also must be able to work well with fellow workers
    • Possesses current Food Handler’s Card and follows proper food sanitation and cleanliness procedures
    • Possesses technical skills necessary to successfully complete different cafeteria duties and demonstrates willingness to learn new skills
    • Follows School Board policies and administrative procedures
    • Must be able to follow directions
    • Ability to manually move, shelve, stack, or raise from floor to table or serving area, heavy objects (pots, pans, trays, and food supplies) weighing up to 40 pounds
    • Must be flexible
    • Must be dependable, honest and trustworthy

    Work Year: 180 days 

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Prepare quality, nutritious food items as directed by the School Cafeteria Manager
    • Serve food items according to the size portion to meet necessary age group requirements
    • Operate equipment in a safe, proper and efficient manner
    • Maintain the highest standards of safety, sanitation and cleanliness in the kitchen. To clean all kitchen equipment, wash and sterilize dishes, silverware and utensils as assigned with proper sanitation procedures
    • Immediately report all accidents to the School Cafeteria Manager
    • Immediately report any product quality or operational problem to the School Cafeteria Manager
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the School Cafeteria Manager.
